Nice, but to many clouds and to much rain

2023-09-15

I had found a nice campspot at the far end of the town's parc, it was actually a room with a view. After the storm of the night before all looked friendly again. However, several of my stuff had gotten wet, due to the storm "rearranging" the (freestanding) tent yesterday evening. Luckily I had no idea about that since I then was relaxing in a cafe. But also the chair had been blown into the mud and was to dirty to sit on. I washed it with the bidonwater I still had, walked over to the watertap at the beginning of the parc, and washed it once more.

But the weather turned a bit bad, however The View remained.

As I said, The View remained.

Unfortunately the very first morning I got a terrible discussion in the Churreria Colon. After I had had a traditional breakfast I started to do some digital work but suddenly the lights went off. The woman of the cafe came over and made clear I had to stop doing that because of the cost of electricity.

I explained her I was using some 10 watts and the cafe was (still) using some 3000 watts (at least) plus a lot of gas. Espressomachines, cigarettemachines, slotmachines and last but not least the churros-pan are very, even extremely (!) energy-consuming. But ofcourse she couldn't handle her wrong "energysaving" so she got angry and asked another woman to help. That woman was one of the most annoying women I have ever met ... Bye bye Churreria Colon, I will spend my money elsewhere.

I found another cafe where I had a good time, for the coffees, the canas and the tapas. But once more there rose a problem. Just when I had ordered a second cana someone pumped up the tv-(football)volume to the very max and all I then could do was put my fingers in my ears. They refused to turn the volume down to an acceptable level.

I explained that hearingdamage can not be repaired and that that might be the reason why almost every man in Spain is always shouting when in a bar. They got angry at me, so I packed, left the new beer behind and left the cafe to not return.

The Parroquia de la Inmaculada Concepcion.

And the procession that took place two evenings.

The second day that I visited the bibliotheca there were a lot of musicinstruments installed. I was warned "so sorry" that there would be musiclessons all morning. No problem, I always like to see active people being enthousiastic about something. As long as it doesn't concern football ...

Ofcourse I tried to take nice pictures of the town, but the weather didn't really help. Neither did the town. I planned to visit the castle but the openinghours were not announced locally and rather unclear online. So I sent an email to the townhall but guess what, they never answered. I never saw the visitordoor open but they do have a very large panel outside explaining how special this castle is.

In the early morning of the 4th day two officers of the Guardia Civil showed up. They were very polite and informed about my plan to stay here. There was no problem and they wished me a nice stay. Just half an hour later one officer of the Policia Local showed up, and exactly the same happened.

The statue "Los Emigrantes"

Two days later, in the early morning, one more officer of the Policia Local showed up (but he obviously had lost his hat). He made clear the townhall had ordered him to inform me I had to leave. I explained I would leave the next day, and that was oké.

So it happened ...
